Sturgis Poetry and Performing Arts Coffeehouse (Spring 2012)

The 9th Annual Sturgis Poetry & Performing Arts Coffeehouse was a great success with 23 performances by Sturgis students and faculty.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed their time and talent: poets, actors, bakers, and musicians. We are grateful to local businesses along Main Street that donated fantastic raffle items: Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop, Box Lunch, British Beer Company, Caffe E Dolci, Common Ground, Hanlon’s Shoes, Kandy Korner, Michael’s Bakery, Palio Pizza, Provo Brazil Steak House and Puritan Clothing. We give special thanks to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod for their generous support of the coffeehouse and for sponsoring visits with poets Greg Hischak and Christine Rathbun Ernst in Sturgis English classes.  Anna Botsford and Alicia Watts deserve Oscars for their great performance as Masters of Ceremony.  Thanks to graphic artist Elizabeth Hooper, our wonderful parent volunteer, for designing the coffeehouse program and other publicity materials for library events. Finally, thanks to everyone who made a donation to help build the new collection of Sturgis West Library. These gifts and the creative spirit of the Sturgis community are truly appreciated.

Visiting Poet Christine Rathbun Ernst summed it up this way

“– such fine talent, such pride in that room

— kudos to all involved.”
